Pembelajaran pada mahasiswa calon guru ditekankan pada kemandirian belajar, literasi sains dan komunikasi. Oleh karena itu mahasiswa perlu dibantu untuk menumbuhkan  kemandirian belajar, keterampilan kerja ilmiah literasi sains agar mereka memiliki kecakapan untuk bekalnya sebagai calon pendidik. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah pembelajaran dengan model Problem Base Learning (PBL) dapat menumbuhkan kemandirian belajar, keterampilan kerja ilmiah dan literasi sains pada mahasiswa.  Tujuan penelitian adalah menyelidiki keefektifan PBLmenumbuhkan kemandirian belajar, keterampilan kerja ilmiah dan literasi sains pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yangmeliputi empat tahapan yaitu tahap perencanaan, implementasi, observasi, dan refleksi. Tahapan tersebut disusun dalam dua siklus. Variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah kemandirian belajar, keterampilan kerja ilmiah dan literasi sains. Data diambil dengan observasi kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menghitung persentase mahasiswa yang memiliki kemapuan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan PBL dapat menumbuhkan  kemandirian belajar, keterampilan kerja ilmiah dan literasi sains  pada mahasiswa secara signifikan.
