PERAN NAHDLATUL ULAMA (NU) DALAM BIDANG PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER

Abstrak
Artikel ilmiah ini menegaskan bahwa peran Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) dalam membangun dan mempertahankan karakter bangsa yang berlandaskan al-akhlaq al-karimah. Meski isu pendidikan karakter ramai baru-baru ini, namun sejatinya peran NU dalam mengimplementasikan pendidikan karakter sudah dibangun jauh sejak NU berdiri. Konsep pendidikan NU berbeda dengan konsep Barat. Bagi NU pendidikan karakter tidak hanya mengatur hubungan sesama manusia an sich. Namun juga pendidikan karakter ialah memiliki dimensi kemanusiaan dan dimensi ketuhanan. Thus, pendidikan karakter ala NU ini dapat disimpulkan pendidikan akhlak sebagaimana telah lama dipraktikkan oleh Rasulullah SAW.

Abstract
This scientific article confirms that the role of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in building and maintaining national character based on al-akhlaq al-karimah. Although the issue of character education was crowded recently, the true role of NU in implementing character education has been built long since NU was established. The concept of NU education is different from Western concepts. For NU character education does not only regulate human relations as well as the West. But also character education is having a human dimension and divine dimension. Thus, this NU-style character education can be inferred as moral education as has long been practiced by the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
