Retraction, Withdrawal & Correction
Publication Integrity, Corrections, and Retraction Procedures

ORASI: Jurnal Dakwah dan Komunikasi is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the scholarly record. This policy establishes procedures for correcting errors in published articles, withdrawing manuscripts before publication, and retracting published articles when necessary. All decisions are made carefully, fairly, and on the basis of available evidence, with the aim of protecting readers and the academic community.

01 Retraction of Published Articles

Retraction may be considered when a published article contains serious problems that undermine the reliability of its findings or when a significant breach of publication ethics has been established. Grounds for retraction may include:

Research and Data Integrity

Evidence of fabricated or falsified data, manipulated results, unreliable findings, or other serious research irregularities.

Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication

Confirmed plagiarism, substantial unattributed duplication, or redundant publication that seriously compromises the originality or integrity of the scholarly record.

Ethical or Authorship Violations

Serious violations of research ethics, unauthorized authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the work, or other substantiated misconduct that warrants retraction.

Retraction is not intended to punish authors for honest mistakes. Where an error can be adequately addressed through a correction without invalidating the main findings, correction may be more appropriate than retraction.

02 Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Withdrawal generally applies to manuscripts that have not yet been formally published. Authors who wish to withdraw a submission must provide a written request to the editorial office explaining the reason for withdrawal.

A withdrawal request may be considered when:

  • The manuscript was submitted by mistake or contains a substantial issue that prevents further consideration.
  • The authors identify a legitimate reason that makes continued submission inappropriate.
  • A submission is found to violate the journal's submission requirements or publication ethics.

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to another journal while it remains under active consideration by ORASI. The editorial office will review the request and communicate its decision. If a serious ethical concern is identified, the journal may investigate the matter before deciding whether withdrawal is appropriate.

03 Correction of Published Articles

ORASI recognizes that errors may occasionally be identified after publication. When an error does not invalidate the main findings or conclusions, the journal may publish a formal correction notice.

Erratum

An erratum may be issued to correct an error introduced during the editorial, production, or publication process.

Corrigendum

A corrigendum may be issued to correct an error originating from the authors that does not undermine the validity of the article's main findings.

Scope of Corrections

Corrections may address factual inaccuracies, author names or affiliations, references, tables, figures, or other material errors. The correction notice will explain what has been amended and identify the original article.

04 Editorial Assessment and Decision

Reports of errors, suspected misconduct, or requests for withdrawal may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, or other parties with relevant information. The editorial team assesses each case impartially and considers the evidence available.

  1. Initial assessment: The editorial team reviews the report or request to determine whether it falls within the scope of this policy.
  2. Evidence and clarification: Where appropriate, the editor requests supporting documentation and gives the authors an opportunity to respond.
  3. Consultation: The journal may consult independent reviewers, relevant experts, institutional representatives, or other appropriate parties when necessary.
  4. Editorial decision: Based on the evidence, the journal determines whether correction, retraction, withdrawal, or another action is warranted.
  5. Notification: The relevant parties are informed of the decision and its rationale, subject to applicable confidentiality and legal requirements.
05 Publication of Notices and Article Records

Correction and retraction notices will be published transparently when required. Each notice should identify the affected article and explain the reason for the editorial action in sufficient detail to inform readers.

Where applicable, the notice will include the article title, author information, original publication details, DOI, the nature of the action, and the date of the notice. The notice will be linked to the original article, and relevant metadata will be updated where technically possible.

Retracted articles will generally remain accessible as part of the scholarly record, clearly marked as retracted, unless legal requirements or exceptional circumstances necessitate another approach. The journal will not silently remove or alter a published article to conceal a substantive correction or retraction.

06 Ethical Principles and Editorial Independence

All decisions concerning retraction, withdrawal, and correction are made in accordance with the principles of publication ethics, fairness, confidentiality, and editorial independence. Decisions are based on evidence and the reliability of the scholarly record rather than the authors' institutional affiliation, seniority, nationality, or personal relationships.

ORASI encourages authors to report significant errors in their published work promptly and to cooperate with the editorial team in investigating and correcting the scholarly record. Reports submitted in good faith will be handled appropriately, and confidentiality will be maintained as far as reasonably possible.

Commitment to Publication Integrity

ORASI: Jurnal Dakwah dan Komunikasi is committed to correcting the scholarly record when necessary and maintaining transparent editorial practices. Retraction, withdrawal, and correction are implemented to protect the reliability of published research and uphold trust in scholarly communication.
