Authors retain copyright in their published articles, subject to the terms agreed upon with the journal and the applicable license. Publication in Prophetic does not, by itself, mean that authors transfer copyright ownership exclusively to the journal.
Authors remain responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, that they have the necessary rights to submit and publish the work, and that any third-party material is used with appropriate permission where required.
2. License and Permitted Use
Articles published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License may be shared and adapted, provided that users comply with the license conditions.
Users must give appropriate credit to the author, identify the source, link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made.
Adapted material must be distributed under the same license or a compatible license, as specified by the CC BY-SA 4.0 terms.
Subject to these conditions, the license permits users to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon licensed material for lawful purposes, including commercial purposes. Users must not impose additional legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.
The license does not automatically grant rights to third-party content that is separately credited or otherwise excluded from the article's license.
3. Rights Granted to the Journal
By publishing with Prophetic, authors authorize the journal to publish and disseminate their articles in accordance with the journal's publication arrangements and the applicable license.
This authorization may include the non-exclusive rights necessary to:
- Publish and display the article on the journal website.
- Distribute the article as part of an issue or journal archive.
- Preserve and archive the article in digital form.
- Display article metadata and provide indexing and discovery services.
- Disseminate the article through scholarly communication platforms and repositories, where appropriate.
These publication activities do not transfer copyright ownership from the authors unless a separate agreement expressly provides otherwise.
4. Author Self-Archiving and Sharing
Authors are encouraged to share their published work through appropriate academic channels, subject to the applicable license and any rights affecting third-party material.
Permitted sharing channels may include:
- Institutional and subject-based repositories.
- Personal or institutional academic websites.
- Research profiles and scholarly networking platforms.
- Educational and research materials used for teaching or academic discussion.
When sharing an article, authors should provide a complete citation and, where available, the DOI or official article URL. Authors should also retain the license information associated with the published version.

Where third-party material is excluded from the article's Creative Commons license, its separate copyright and usage conditions remain applicable. Users must obtain any additional permission required before reusing such material.

Uses that are not permitted by the applicable Creative Commons license may require separate authorization from the relevant rights holder.
