1. Licence Terms

Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 International License, users are permitted to:

Share
Copy and Redistribute

Copy and redistribute the licensed material in any medium or format.

Adapt
Remix and Transform

Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

These permissions apply provided that users comply with the licence conditions and respect any rights that are not covered by the licence.

2. Attribution (BY)

Users must give appropriate credit to the original author or authors, provide the source of the publication, include a link to the applicable licence, and indicate whether changes have been made.

Attribution must be provided in a reasonable manner and must not suggest that the original author, publisher, or journal endorses the user or the user's use of the material.

Recommended Attribution Format

Author(s). (Year). Title of the article. Prophetic: Professional, Empathy, Islamic Counseling Journal, volume(issue), page range. DOI or article URL. Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

When adapting an article, users should clearly identify the changes made, such as translations, abridgements, modifications, or other adaptations.

3. ShareAlike (SA)

If users remix, transform, or build upon licensed material, they must distribute their contributions under the same licence as the original or a compatible licence, in accordance with the terms of CC BY-SA 4.0.

The ShareAlike condition supports continued sharing by ensuring that adaptations remain available under terms that preserve the relevant reuse permissions.

4. No Additional Restrictions

Users must not apply additional legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from exercising the rights granted by the licence.

The licence does not authorize users to imply endorsement by the original author or the journal, and it does not automatically grant permission to use trademarks, personal likenesses, patents, or other rights that may apply independently.

5. Copyright Ownership

Copyright ownership remains subject to the applicable publication agreement and the rights retained by the author or other relevant rights holder. The CC BY-SA 4.0 licence grants the public permission to use covered material under its terms; it does not mean that the material is in the public domain.

Authors and users must respect the copyright and licensing terms applicable to each publication. Any separate agreement affecting copyright or publication rights must be interpreted consistently with the rights actually granted for the relevant work.

6. Third-Party Materials

Some materials included in an article may belong to third parties and may not be covered by the article's Creative Commons licence. Examples include photographs, illustrations, assessment instruments, figures, tables, and other copyrighted content identified with separate credit or licensing information.

Users must check the relevant credit statements and obtain permission from the appropriate rights holder when required. The CC BY-SA 4.0 licence does not override rights or legal limitations that apply independently to third-party material.

7. Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to Prophetic are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and permissions to publish their work and any included third-party content.

  • Ensure that submitted work is original and that sources are properly acknowledged.
  • Obtain permissions for copyrighted materials where required.
  • Identify third-party materials that are excluded from the article's licence.
  • Respect research participant privacy, confidentiality, and applicable consent requirements.
  • Provide accurate information about authorship, affiliations, funding, and other required declarations.
  • Comply with the journal's publication ethics and author guidelines.

8. Open Access and Reuse

Prophetic promotes open access to increase the visibility and accessibility of scholarly research in guidance and counseling, particularly Islamic Guidance and Counseling. The journal encourages responsible sharing of published work for research, teaching, learning, and academic discussion.

Users are encouraged to cite the original publication and link to the official journal version whenever possible. All reuse must comply with the applicable licence, copyright conditions, and any independent rights affecting the material.
