Reviewer Guidelines

Al-Tarbawi Al-Haditsah: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam appreciates the valuable contributions of reviewers in maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal. Peer review is a critical component of the publication process, ensuring that published articles meet academic standards and contribute significantly to the field of Islamic education.

1. Role of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to assist the editorial team in making editorial decisions by providing objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers also help authors improve the quality of their work through scholarly feedback.

2. Review Process

The journal implements a double-blind peer review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.

Reviewers are requested to complete their review within the specified timeframe (generally 2–4 weeks). If a reviewer is unable to complete the review on time, they should inform the editor promptly.

3. Ethical Responsibilities

Reviewers must adhere to the following ethical standards:

a. Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or use the content for personal advantage.

b. Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Comments should be clearly expressed and supported by arguments.

c. Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and point out any substantial similarity with other publications.

d. Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, whether financial, institutional, or personal.

4. Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts based on the following aspects:

  • Originality and novelty of the research
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope (Islamic education and culture)
  • Clarity of research objectives and questions
  • Appropriateness of methodology
  • Quality of analysis and discussion
  • Contribution to knowledge and practice
  • Clarity, coherence, and academic writing quality
  • Adequacy and accuracy of references

5. Review Recommendations

At the end of the review, reviewers are requested to provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Accept with major revisions
  • Reject

Reviewers should provide clear and constructive suggestions to support their recommendation.

6. Reviewer Comments

Reviewer comments should be divided into:

  • Comments for Authors: constructive feedback to improve the manuscript
  • Comments for Editors (optional): confidential remarks regarding the manuscript

7. Plagiarism and Ethical Concerns

If reviewers suspect plagiarism, data fabrication, or any ethical misconduct, they should immediately notify the editor. The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to support the review process.

8. Timeliness

Reviewers are expected to respond promptly to review invitations and submit their evaluations within the agreed deadline to ensure an efficient publication process.
