- Abstract
-
Research on Qur'anic rhetoric has largely focused on structural aspects, while its function in fostering social solidarity within contemporary Muslim societies remains underexplored. This research aims to identify the types of muhassināt al-ma'nawiyyah in Surah Al-Insān verses 1-15, analyze their rhetorical function, and formulate their relevance for strengthening social solidarity. The method used is qualitative with a content analysis approach to the text of the verse, supported by secondary data from the book of balāghah, tafsir, and previous studies. The findings of the study show that three main tools, namely al-ṭibāq, murā'āt al-naẓīr, and al-tafrīq, work in an integrated manner to construct a discourse of solidarity. From a sociological perspective, al-ṭibāq reinforces social boundaries by contrasting gratitude with ingratitude (kufr) and a safe space with a space of duress; Murā'āt al-Naẓīr forms a typification of vulnerable groups such as: the poor, orphans, captives and rejects the logic of symbolic transactions in charity; while al-Tafrīq has the most important role by making a decisive distinction between al-Abrār and al-Kāfirīn, the types of vulnerabilities that require different responses, as well as a space full of pressure versus a space full of glory. The implications of this study are practical; the verses containing al-tafrīq (QS. Al-Insān: 4-5, 8-9, 10-11, 13-15) are recommended as teaching material for religious educators, Islamic boarding schools, and mosque-based programs. Theoretically, this research offers a "functional analysis of muhassināt al-ma'nawiyyah" as a cross-disciplinary approach that bridges balāghah and sociology.
