Plagiarism and Generative AI Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Studi Hadis Nusantara (JSHN) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism in all submitted manuscripts. All manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin and may also be checked manually by the editorial team.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The submitted manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.

  • All ideas, quotations, data, and works derived from other sources are properly cited.

  • Self-plagiarism and redundant publication are not permitted.

  • The same manuscript is not submitted simultaneously to more than one journal.

  • All references that significantly contribute to the research are properly acknowledged.

  • Quotations and translations, particularly Arabic texts, hadith texts, sanad, and matn, are accurately presented and appropriately referenced.

Similarity Checking

The editorial team conducts similarity screening during the editorial process. Manuscripts indicating a similarity level above 20% may be returned to the authors for clarification or revision and may be rejected depending on the nature and severity of the similarities.

A similarity score alone does not determine plagiarism. The editorial team considers the context, source of similarity, quotations, references, and overall academic integrity of the manuscript.

Generative AI Policy

JSHN recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools can assist authors in improving academic writing and research workflows. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of their manuscripts.

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

The following principles apply:

  1. AI-generated content must not replace the author's original intellectual contribution or responsibility for the manuscript.

  2. Authors remain responsible for all arguments, interpretations, data, findings, references, and conclusions.

  3. AI tools must not be used to fabricate, manipulate, or generate research data, findings, citations, or statistical results.

  4. AI-assisted language editing, grammar correction, and improvement of readability may be used, provided that the underlying content is created and verified by the authors.

  5. Authors must carefully verify AI-assisted content, particularly hadith texts, Arabic quotations, sanad, matn, translations, references, and bibliographic information.

  6. The use of generative AI that substantially contributes to the manuscript should be transparently disclosed by the authors.

  7. AI-generated images, data, or other materials must not be presented as authentic research materials without appropriate disclosure and justification.

Any inappropriate use of AI that compromises academic integrity may result in manuscript rejection or other editorial action.

Ultimately, authors are accountable for the content and integrity of their submitted manuscripts.
